This form is for HPaW's (Health Promotion and Wellness) own Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone trainings. Trainings will be offered at least twice a quarter. More trainings may be scheduled if there is increased demand.
All students who complete the training and follow-up survey will receive a two-pack of intranasal Narcan, fentanyl test strips and face shields that are used for rescue breathing.
By the end of this training, students will be able to:
- Understand the risk factors for an opioid overdose
- Describe how naloxone works
- Recognize the signs of an overdose and identify when it is appropriate to use naloxone
- Administer naloxone to an individual they believe is experiencing an overdose
- Identify additional emergency steps to take, including calling for help, rescue breathing, and putting someone in the recovery position
